The pace of continuing medical education never slackens; a major part of every general practitioner's life. It not only involves the Pathway through to Fellowship of the College via GPEP, Stages I & II, but also the professional development areas of MOPS.
The dramatic increase in the volume of new and changing information has made it very difficult for GPs to keep their medical knowledge up to date. To help overcome this, the College promotes a learning strategy that involves:
CME activities are designed to enhance your knowledge, skills, attitudes and judgement to improve the health care you provide for your patients.
The Guide to CME is designed to help people and/or organisations who may wish either to provide endorsed individual CME events or to register as a registered CME provider.
Current CME events notified to the College and published in ePulse will be carried on a listing here. It will be updated each month.
check magazine
check is an independent learning and CPD programme developed by the RACGP. The programme offers RNZCGP members the opportunity to gain endorsed CME credits while keeping up with medical developments. Each monthly issue offers a self-assessment programme with a range of cases written by expert clinicians. In 2010 the full programme of check units and associated active learning modules will be available online through the gplearning website. Alternatively, the units will be available as hardcopies with the modules to be completed online. Endorsed CME credits are earned for each unit by reading and completing the unit, then answering 10 multiple choice questions online via the gplearning website. An enrolment form is available here or by contacting sue.domanski@rnzcgp.org.nz.
