Clutha Health First is an integrated health centre incorporating a 15 bed acute medical ward, General Practice, Medical Assessment Unit, primary maternity unit, community radiology service, community laboratory, a broad range of outpatient clinics and supporting community/allied health services.
We are seeking a Medical Officer to work in our Inpatient Medical Ward. This would be an ideal position for a Fellow of the Division of Rural Hospital Medicine. Alternatively, we would consider a post graduate with a minimum three years general medicine experience. For a dual trained DRHMNZ / FRNZCGP Fellow there may be opportunities to also work as part of the general practice team.
The inpatient unit is led by our resident Medical Director who is a Fellow of Rural Hospital Medicine.
The Inpatient Ward is managed by three Medical Officers who work on a 3 week rotating roster of 2 weeks on and 1 week off. When rostered, the Medical Officer will be working on his/her own delivering a variety of services broadly incorporating acute medicine, rehabilitation and palliative care.
The General Practice is the largest primary care provider in South Otago. The Cornerstone accredited team includes seven GPs, Nurse Practitioner, Emergency Nurse Clinician and supporting staff.
CHF is an accredited Rural Teaching Centre for the University of Otago Rural Medicine Immersion Programme. We are also accredited for the GPEP training for the Royal NZ College of GPs.
