“Research is four things: brains with which to think, eyes with which to see, machines with which to measure and, fourth, money.”
Albert Szent-Gyorgyi - Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine in 1937
What is Research and Education Trust?
While we rely on the research of others to perform practice in day-to-day work, it is creative work that gives back value for future practitioners and their patients.
Back in 1990, the College realised this by creating the Research and Education Trust that has since awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of grants towards original research.
Every Fellow of the College funds such research grants by paying a levy in membership fees of $8.00 per person alongside bequests and donations. Full financial breakdowns of these grants are publicly available in the Trust’s annual report.
How grants work
College members have the opportunity to apply for funding towards original research ideas and the travel necessary with professional education.
In exchange for funding, the College asks that all published papers acknowledges the College and is shared with the College who in turn, shares it with its members.
