I am a 55 year old GP with 26 years experience in a largely Rural General Practice. Teaching appeals because I feel it is a way for me to expand my knowledge base while at the same time sharing my experience.
I have special interests in Diabetes and Long Term Conditions management and am in the process of implementing a changed approach to this.
Broadway Health is a rural practice servicing a low decile high Maori population with high morbidity. There are seven doctors including two female GPs working part-time.
We have a philosophy of providing affordable high quality care and are always looking at ways to improve or extend our practice.
We are CORNERSTONE accredited and are working to re-accreditation at present.
Our PHO is Te tai Tokerau PHO which covers most of rural Northland.
Our practice opens from 8:00am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday with a Saturday clinic 8:00am to 1:00pm. After hours is shared between the Mid North Practices and is based at the Bay of islands Hospital Kawakawa.
We are fully computerised using MedTech32. We have internet access from all computers in the practice.
The registrar has their own room. Their accommodation is their own responsibility but help is available to locate accommodation and some assistance maybe available with cost. Registrars are supplied with a personal kit including opthalmosope, auriscope and stethoscope.
