College Representatives

The College is often approached to nominate Fellows to external committees. These committees are established by government bodies such as the Ministry of Health, PHARMAC and Medsafe as well as non-governmental agencies within the health sector.

Committees often require a GP to represent a general practice point of view on the specific issues they are involved in. Representatives usually meet with their committee either in person or via teleconference up to three or four times a year depending on the objectives of the committee.

Involvement in these committees provides members with a great opportunity to represent the College and general practice. Committee members have the opportunity to be involved in key health discussions and contribute to different initiatives, as well as meeting health professionals within the sector with similar interests. You can view a full list of health advisory and regulatory groups which include members representing the College in the 'Committees with College Representation' document below.

If you have a specific interest or expertise in a certain area of health, please register your professional interests so we can contact you if anything suitable arises.
