Council

The Council has the primary governance role in The Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners.

The Council formulates policy and instigates and monitors actions to fulfil the objectives of the College. The Council may delegate any of its functions to committees, which must conform to any regulations imposed on them by the Council.

The Voting Members of the Council are:

  • President of the College, who must be a Fellow
  • Deputy President, who must be a Fellow
  • Two Representatives from each Faculty
  • The Chairpersons of Council Standing Committees as determined by the Council

The Chief Executive officer is a non-voting member.

In December 2009 the Council delegated all of its functions to the Executive Board of the Council. The Council provides oversight of this Board at its six-monthly meeting.

The Council is bound by the rules and regulations below.
