The Executive Board consists of the President, Deputy President, a representative from Te Akoranga a Maui (the Maori Faculty), three other members and the Chief Executive Officer. They make many of the day-to-day decisions required between formal meetings of the Council.

Dr Harry Pert comes from the Waikato Faculty and has a record of experience and leadership in both the College and Independent Practitioners' Associations (IPAs). He founded one of the most innovative and successful IPAs in New Zealand, and has been a member of College’s quality committee and Council. He has a reputation for innovation and vision, and is passionate about making a difference in general practice. He has taken a lead role in delivering seven successful national conferences and is a frequent speaker at many others throughout Australasia. Harry Pert was elected President in 2009.
Dr Tim Malloy comes from the Rural Faculty and brings to the role a wealth of experience, both in rural medicine and governance. He has played an active role within the College as Rural Faculty Chair, College Council representative and educator, and he also features in the College education and training documentary 'Never the Same day Twice'. He is well known in the both the rural community and rural network with an impressive record in developing and implementing 'Learning Environments' for both undergraduate and postgraduate GP training. He was the main driver behind setting up and maintaining the 'Centre of Excellence for Rural Primary Care - Te Whariki Teitei', a multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary education unit in collaboration with Waitemata DHB.
Tana is a General Practitioner practising, teaching and conducting research at Greenstone Family Clinic, South Auckland, (Manurewa). Along with her practice partner, Professor Bruce Arroll, they supervise medical students, nursing students, registrars, international elective students, and GPEP2 doctors in training. Tana attended medical school in the United States after careers in business as well as psychology. She is board-certified in Family Medicine and in addition, completed a Fellowship in Academic Medicine before moving to New Zealand in 2001. She also completed her Fellowship training with the RNZCGP. Tana is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of General Practice and Primary Health Care at the University of Auckland, a member of the Executive Board for the RNZCGP as well as the RNZCGP Sponsor for Health Workforce New Zealand and serves on the National Lung Cancer Work Group as well as clinical champion for Counties Manukau Smokefree programme.
Richard comes from the Wellington Faculty where he is in general practice and has a strong record of leadership and governance roles in the IPAs/PHOs/management service organisations supporting general practice. He is the current Chair of Compass Health, a former registrar trainer and is currently on the Compass Health Quality Board and the Board of BPAC NZ. Richard is also Chairman of the Medical Assurance Society Group of Companies and is on the executive of GPNZ. His experience makes him well suited to Chair the Colleges Audit and Risk Committee and he brings a unique blend of governance and general practice to the College Board.
A founding member of Te Akoranga o Maui, Jim is a GP in Wairau (Blenheim) and a former RNZCGP President. Having been involved in College Quality activities for a numbers of years, in particular Aiming for Excellence and CORNERSTONE, Jim is also involved in evidence-based medicine through his guideline work with New Zealand Guidelines Group (NZGG). Kai Tahu and Kaiti Mamoe are his iwi.
David is Managing Director of LECG Asia Pacific, appointed to the RNZCGP Board in July 2010. He has extensive connections and networks in health, and policy experience of the health sector. David was the founding General Manager of PHARMAC. He still serves on PHARMAC’s Board, and the Crown Health Financing Agency. He also formerly ran the Ministry of Health’s WAVE programme (Working to Add Value through Electronic Information) and was the General Manager of the personal health operation group at the Health Funding Authority. He has gained an impressive understanding of primary care and integrated care: and is well-regarded by primary care organisations. David is Ngai Tahu, and serves on Te Runanga O Ngai Tahu’s Advisory Investment Sub-Committee.
