Geethal’s Data Systems Limited

The Software application that is used by the College to automate the CORNERSTONE General Practice Accreditation Programme was developed and copyrighted by Geethal’s Data Systems Ltd (GDSL) of Paraparaumu. This automated assessment system is used internationally by a major oil company, and also by Airways Corporation of New Zealand.

The system will be installed on a computer provided by the Practice. The system allows the Practice to select each assessment question, answer, and classify it appropriately. When all the questions have been answered, the system automatically creates the assessment reports with minimal input from the Practice. The system is designed with capabilities to upload the assessment results to the self-assessment database.

This system also has assessment scheduling and task management capabilities. This allows users to plan actions against any area that requires attention to meet standards or for continued quality improvement.

The web servers that hold the assessment data are held in a high security data centre. The system itself also has a high security protocol for data protection and user authentication.

For Self Assessment purposes, the system provides the capability where the practices access the system on-line

The practice can choose to:

  • Sign a RNZCGP CORNERSTONE General Practice Accreditation Programme contract which includes a link to the GDSL software for a 12 month period. This will be at no cost to the practice as the software will be funded as part of the Ministry of Health funding (up to June 2011).
  • Sign a GDSL Agreement to be linked to the Aiming for Excellence Intranet for a 12 month period. This is subject to an annual charge to the practice.

Once a practice has signed an Agreement or Contract you will be given login details, passwords and the user manual to access the online system. The manual contains a step by step guidance on how to carry out a self assessment using the software. This includes a risk management plan and action plan to help you organise your work.

The online system can be accessed either through the RNZCGP website or directly using a hyperlink that will be emailed to you. The programme also includes fields to attach documents and policies

The online system is used by the assessors for the practice evaluation and post assessment dialogue.
