Japan Radiation Information for Health Providers

The Ministry of Health has issued guidance to health professionals and providers on the radiation situation in Japan, following the 11 March quake and tsunami.  You can read the guide here:   Radiation Situation in Japan Information for Health Providers

In particular, at this time:

  • Based on current information, the NRL advises that there are no immediate health risks for people located 30km or more from the Fukushima power station in Japan.
  • New Zealanders returning home from Japan are highly unlikely to be contaminated or exposed to significant radiation and will not require checks for radioactivity.  However, if people wish to seek health advice they should contact Healthline on 0800 611 116.
