The Practice
  • In 2003 the practice was relocated to a renovated maternity home in Lumsden
  • We use MacIntosh computers with Profile software
  • There is a five day a week appointment system (with urgents in between)
  • During the week we provide after hours but on weekends Eastern Southland Urgent Doctors cover the not so ill and we provide Prime Cover
  • Physio is available in the maternity home and a midwife covers maternity services
  • District nursing and community mental health services available; there is a visiting podiatrist (six weekly) and a diabetes nurse (four times a year)
  • The practice nurses are Prime trained and very competent in emergency care
  • We cover an area that takes one hour to traverse by road. Practice population (2,700) is rural, mixed age, mostly families
