I am the Clinical Director and Principal of Manurewa Medical, and have been involved in this practice since 1992.
My special interests within the practice are registrar teaching and clinical directorship including Quality Assurance systems. I also spend 6 hours per week providing onsite services to Rest Home patients. I am the leader of our local Cell group (Peer Review).
Afterhours I compete in multisport kayaking and am involved in a Community Nurse Training School in Vanuatu as their Clinical Advisor.
Manurewa Medical is a five to six doctor suburban General Practice, providing full spectrum medical services to an enrolled population of 6000. We aim to provide medical care of the highest standard possible given the resources available to us.
We are CORNERSTONE Accredited, currently going through our second three year cycle, and we are affiliated with Procare, the largest general practice PHO in Auckland.
We work from Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm, with a late night on Thursday and Saturday mornings.
We are a fully computerised Medtech practice, with all practice decision support systems and Clinical Resource Material being online.
Our practice has been expanded in the last year, with five new consultation rooms and a modern bright reception area. The five doctors range in age from late 20s to late 40s, three male and two female (one of Chinese and one Middle Eastern cultural background). We have a practice population that would be considered lower to middle income, 55% European, 18% Maori, 12% Pacific Island and 9% Asian.
Most of the attachment is during normal working hours in a standard General Practice setting. One session per week is either a late night (Thursday) or Saturday morning, in lieu of Friday afternoon. One session per week is on site at a resthome, in conjunction with the supervisor. All other afterhours care is covered by an afterhours medical provider.
