National Health Emergency Plan - volunteers sought

The Ministry of Health is considering a series of initiatives to enable the deployment of a medical assistance team (NZMAT) to support local health services overwhelmed by a major emergency within New Zealand and Polynesia.

A meeting will be held in Auckland on 10 February 2012 to provide an overview of the objectives and functions of the NZMAT.

Who should consider volunteering?

Doctors, nurses, pharmacists, paramedics, medical technicians, logistical/support personnel and administrators interested in participating in response to major emergencies. Those likely to be in key positions such as team leaders or section managers will be expected to participate in emergency management training and team training.

More information about the NZMAT can be downloaded here.

If you are interested in volunteering for this team and would like to attend this meeting please contact Waveney Grennell by Friday 3 February 2012.
