New Acting Deputy President Announced

College President Dr Harry Pert is delighted to announce that Wellsford GP Dr Tim Malloy has accepted the role of Acting Deputy President. Dr Malloy replaces Dr Tony Townsend who resigned last month because of unforeseen personal circumstances that prevent him from seeing out his term. Dr Malloy will be Acting Deputy President until confirmed by the College Council which next meets on 5 May.

Dr Pert says the College is very fortunate to have Dr Malloy join us as a board member and Acting Deputy President.

Dr Malloy brings to the role a wealth of experience, both in rural medicine and governance. He is well-known in both the rural community and rural network with an impressive record in developing and implementing ‘Learning Environments’ for both undergraduate and postgraduate GP training.

He was the main driver behind the setting up and maintenance of the ‘Centre of Excellence for Rural Primary Care’, a multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary education unit in collaboration with Waitemata DHB.

Dr Malloy has played an active role within the College as Rural Faculty Chair, College Council representative and educator, and he also features in the College education and training documentary ‘Never the Same Day Twice’.
