17 December 2010
The College Council have reopened the call for nominations for President 2011-2013. The call for nominations will close on 24 December 2010 (noon). Should there be more than one nomination, you will be notified on 10 January 2011 that an election will be held. Please click here for the Call for Nomination information and the Nomination Form.
Dear Fellows and Members,
As you know Council called for nominations for President 2011-13 on 12 November 2010. By the close of this call, on 3 December 2010 two nominations were received. Yesterday, after considering legal advice, Council deemed one of those nominations to be invalid because the stipulated Deputy President on the nomination form was not a Fellow of the College. Council therefore determined that only one valid nomination had been received and Dr Tane Taylor was elected unopposed to the position of President of the College 2011-13, with Dr Tim Malloy Deputy President.
At the end of the Council meeting Dr Taylor announced that he and Dr Malloy were withdrawing their nominations. He thanked Council for making the decision that it had, and said that in his view if two Fellows were putting their names forward for the position of President then the members ought to have the opportunity to decide. Therefore, today College Council announces the opening of the nomination process for the President of the College 2011-13. This will now be a shortened process in order to comply with the requirements of the College Rules.
Nomination process opens: 17 December 2010
Nomination process closes: 24 December 2010, at noon sharp (this is when the College office closes for the year)
Ballot notified to members: 10 January 2011 (in the event that there are two or more valid nominations)
Postal Ballot opens: 7 February 2011
Postal Ballot closes: 21 February 2011

The President-elect and the Deputy President-elect will take up their positions on 1 March 2011.
Please note that all nominees must be Fellows of the College at the time that their nomination is submitted to the College. The nomination form and formal call for nomination is attached.
