The NZMA is hosting the Role of the Doctor Seminar for the medical profession to come together and determine for itself what it believes the role of the doctor is in the 21st century.
Three College representatives are attending.
In the current health workforce environment, and with growing demands on the health system, solutions are being sought to achieve greater flexibility. It is therefore both timely and essential for the profession to achieve a consensus statement on the future role of the doctor in New Zealand.
The seminar aims to achieve this goal by bringing together leaders in medicine from throughout New Zealand. International guest Professor Sir John Tooke from the UK, a distinguished medical academic, will also be in attendance. Sir John convened the UK Role of the Doctor Summit in 2008 which produced a consensus statement.
