Highlights from the NZ Rural General Practice Network (NZRGPN) Conference held in Wellington, 17-20 March 2011.

NZRGPN Chair Resigns

Kirsty Murrell-McMillan has resigned as chair of the Rural General Practice Network and Opotiki GP Jo Scott-Jones has been appointed interim chair.

Treasurer Rachel Hale has taken over as interim deputy chair and secretary Dr David Wilson takes on the extra role of treasurer.

These changes were announced at the Network’s annual conference in Wellington (March 17-20).  Read More

Peter Snow Award

Whataroa GP and long-serving New Zealand Rural General Practice Network Board Member Martin London is the recipient of the Peter Snow Memorial Award for 2011.

The award was presented to Dr London by last year's winner Dr Tim Malloy. Read More

Health Minister Speaks at Conference

The work of the New Rural General Practice Network extends well beyond that of General Practice, said Health Minister Tony Ryall in his address to rural health practitioners from around New Zealand at the NZRGPN conference in Wellington recently (March 17-20).

Mr Ryall addressed the delegates during the political session, which was also linked by video to sites in Taupo and Balclutha.  Read More
