Pathway to Fellowship

The College has approximately 3500 members, representing around 95 percent of all general practitioners in New Zealand. This provides it with a strong mandate to speak and act on behalf of the profession.

Associate membership of the College is open to any registered medical practitioner who is working in General Practice in New Zealand. Associates may take a full part in College affairs, except that they may not vote at the Annual General Meeting of the College. Full Membership and Fellowship is attainable only by examination and assessment. Associate membership therefore carries no implication of academic or professional achievement or status.

Interim Pathway to Fellowship for General Practitioners

The Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners is offering an interim pathway to Fellowship and registration in the vocational scope of general practice. The Experiential Interim Pathway (EIP) has been developed for doctors who have considerable experience in general practice. The EIP is an interim pathway only, and is only available for a finite period of time. All doctors who meet the eligibility criteria are encouraged to take up the opportunity presented by this pathway to FRNZCGP and vocational registration.

The EIP will be available from 1 June 2010 until 31 May 2013. Click here for more information on EIP.
