Reviewers

If an original scientific paper that is submitted to the JPHC is accepted for consideration of publication, it undergoes rigorous peer review. Reviewers may be selected either for their knowledge of the paper topic or expertise in the relevant methodology.

Book Reviews

We publish reviews of books written by NZ authors relating to primary health care topics. Authors of such books are invited to arrange for their publisher to forward a copy to the Editorial Office of the RNZCGP, Level 3, 88 The Terrace, PO Box 10440, Wellington 6143 or to email the Editor at editor@rnzcgp.org.nz to discuss whether a book is eligible for review.

Reviews are generally 250 to 500 words and the invited reviewer can keep the book. The following can be used as a template for the review: <Title, authors, publisher, place of publication, date, number of pages>Reviewed by <name, qualifications, position(s)>

  • Who this book is for
  • The aim of the book
  • Briefly what it is about
  • Good aspects, what you liked about it
  • Not so good aspects, what you did not like, limitations or errors 
  • Recommendation
