20 December 2011
A Special General Meeting (SGM) of RNZCGP (the College) is being held to consider and vote on proposed new rules for the College.
This meeting is being held in conjunction with the Quality Symposium with both events taking place at Te Papa Tongarewa.
The College’s rules have been under review for some time, and have gone through many iterations as we have consulted with members; made draft amendments and then sought further feedback.
Please take the time to read through the proposed rules prior to the meeting.
Changes we have made during the consultation process include keeping the Member category and introducing an Associate in Training and an Associate in Practice membership categories. The Affiliate membership category has been disestablished.
The proposed rules contain a modern governance structure with a small, representative, governance body.
Under the transitional provisions contained in the proposed rules (clause 18.6), the President elected under the former rules is deemed to be elected to the Board under these rules until the end of his current term which finishes in September 2013.
An election will be held for the three elected board member places with nominations to be called for in April and May 2012, and election held in July 2012. The new members will take up their positions after next year’s AGM which is scheduled for September 2012.
A Fellow or Member in good standing with a right to vote, who cannot attend the AGM/SGM, may give another Fellow or Member who is present at the AGM/SGM the right to vote at the AGM/SGM in line with the absent Fellow or Members written instructions (written proxy voting). No other proxy voting is permitted.
Please complete the following form in order to submit your proxy vote. Please either fax the form to +64 4 496 5997, email a scanned copy to rnzcgp@rnzcgp.org.nz or post the form to RNZCGP, Level 3, 88 The Terrace, Wellington 6011.
