Strategic Statement

The Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners has set its strategic direction for this year, defining three priority areas and seven goals. These are:

Strategic priority one - Relationships and value

Relationships and value recognises that it is only by developing a shared vision and working together that we are likely to realise our goals. College members collectively hold great knowledge and wisdom, and this will be enhanced by improved relationships with our primary care colleagues, networks and stakeholders.

  • Goal 1: Members achieve vocational registration
  • Goal 2: Members receive improved value from College services
  • Goal 3: Members see relationships supporting College strategy

Strategic priority two - Professional Practice Support

Professional Practice Support is at the heart of patients-centred practice. Building on the challenge of Sir Donald Irvine that every New Zealander will have a good doctor and primary care, the College has prioritised for its members the delivery of world class professional development and continuous quality improvement programmes.

  • Goal 4: Members use effective education programmes
  • Goal 5: Members improve the quality of their general practice
  • Goal 6: The College effectively supports its members

Strategic priority three - Governance

The College is meeting the challenge of a rapidly changing environment. To do this it is seeking to ensure that it is effectively and efficiently able to respond to the issues placed before it.

  • Goal 7: The College is effective and efficient in all its work
