New Zealanders eat too much salt, and need to reduce their consumption by at least half, says public health expert, University of Auckland Emeritus Professor Robert Beaglehole.
It’s World Salt Awareness Week and Professor Beaglehole says Kiwis are consuming an average of 9g or 1.5 teaspoons of salt each day.
“The World Health Organization recommends a daily intake of between 3g to 6g (6g is about one teaspoon), so ideally we should only be eating half as much as we do.” Read More
