Advanced Travel Medicine

Advanced Travel Medicine
CME event on health care for international and returning travelers.
This seminar will be facilitated by Dr Lynn McBain and presented by Dr Jenny Visser and Briar Campbell.
As more and more people travel internationally, appropriate health care for intending and returning travelers is important not only for individuals but also for larger groups and the wider community.

The Advanced travel medicine seminar will build on the Travel medicine (basic) seminar. Attendees will be expected to have an understanding of the basic principles of travel medicine and to come to the seminar prepared to apply these. The advanced seminar will concentrate on more challenging pre-travel consultations and specific travel vaccines.

This seminar is CME-endorsed (6.0 credits).

Topics will include:

- The paediatric traveller
- The pregnant traveller
- VFR travellers
- Those travelling with on-going medical conditions
- Adventure travellers
- Long term travellers and those going to live in less developed countries

Prescribing rabies, Japanese encephalitis and Yellow Fever vaccines will also be discussed. Teaching and learning will rely heavily on the use of clinical case scenarios.

We recommend that all participants have either attended a previous Travel medicine seminar or view the online Travel Medicine (basic) seminar.
