Step 1: check your eligibility
In order to apply for GPEP, there are criteria you need to meet. Read the eligibility criteria.
Step 2: prepare your application
You will need to submit a series of documents along with your application and prepare some answers. Find out what documents and preparation you'll need to do.
Step 3: complete your online application
Applications for the next intake will open in February 2023.

Step 4: applications are reviewed
Once submitted, your application will be reviewed by the College to determine if you are suitable for training. References will be checked and you will be contacted if further information is required.
Step 5: Selection and interview
Selection screening is undertaken for all applicants. Interviews may be held for applicants who we require further information from. These interviews will likely be held via zoom.
Applicants who meet all eligibility requirements will not require a selection interview and will be contacted to advise they have passed the initial stage of selection.
All applicants suitable for training will still be required to have a Zoom interview with a College Medical Educator from their preferred region for placement purposes. These will be held a few months after the selection interviews are completed.
Step 6: letters of offer are sent
Unsuccessful applicants will be notified in writing by the end of June 2022. Formal offer letters for successful applicants will be sent in August 2022.
Step 7: practice placements are allocated
If you are accepted onto the programme and have chosen to be College-employed, you will receive notification of the two practices you will be placed with during your first year. You will receive this notification closer to the commencement of GPEP.
If you are practice-employed or self-funded, your placement will be managed by the agreement you have with your employer.
Step 8: start the programme
GPEP year 1 will begin on 31 January 2023.
