Documentation for non-New Zealand citizens or permanent residents

On your application form, you’ll need to upload copies of:

• your passport photo page, and
• a copy of your electronic visa, and
• your current or most recent Medical Council Annual Practising Certificate (APC), and
• your current Medical Indemnity Insurance
• second form of identification.

Two references 

You will be asked to provide the names and contact details of two clinical supervisors that you have worked with in the last three years.

Please make sure that your referees are aware that you have nominated them to provide a reference for you, because an external third-party recruiter will contact them to complete reference checks.

If the recruiter can’t get in touch with your referee, they will contact you to provide another appropriate referee.

In addition to the documents outlined above, all applicants will be asked to provide a personal response to each of the below questions. Aim for two to three paragraphs.

Please note, there is a character limit of 5000.

• Why do you aspire to be a general practitioner? This could include what you hope to achieve during your career.
• Explain how an aspect of your clinical experience or post-graduate study is relevant to general practice.
• Describe a clinical scenario you have been involved in that resulted in an adverse outcome. What did you learn from this experience?
• In your own words discuss your understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its practical application to you when working as a General Practitioner in Aotearoa.
• Describe a clinical scenario you have been involved in where health inequities affected patient treatment. How might these inequities be addressed in general practice to improve patient outcomes?
