We’re looking for an accurate, detailed, and likeable Financial Accountant to join our fast-paced team. This is important work because in a worldwide pandemic it’s our job to support the frontline workers: New Zealand’s 5,500 GPs and rural hospital doctors.
You’ll join a five-member Finance Team at The Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners, a medical college that is the post-graduate training organisation for doctors wanting to specialise in general practice and rural hospital medicine, and a membership organisation.
You’ll be responsible for the timely provision of financial reporting and be a key member of the team; both supporting the Financial Controller and modelling leadership to the wider team.
We work in a light, bright, central Wellington office that overlooks the harbour. Our team is dedicated and hard-working but social and a key part of office life. We need a motivated, senior member of our team who will work well with others and be responsible for:
- The preparation and management of monthly financial reporting, including analysis and commentary
- Completion of statutory returns
- Supporting the delivery of budgeting and forecasting
- Provision of financial analysis
- Dealing with the external auditors
- Providing leadership within the team including training, development, and skill-sharing.
We would love to hear from people with these skills and attributes:
- CA/CPA or similar qualification
- 5+ years’ post qualification experience
- A self-starter with great initiative and a can-do attitude
- Strong financial analysis skills and the ability to identify process improvements / optimise existing processes
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to relate professionally, engage and present to senior staff effectively
- Proven leadership within a team; setting the standard for others
- Acute attention to detail
