The College is pleased to announce that registrations are now open for the 2019 Conference for General Practice (GP19). 

Following the success of the 2018 conference, which saw more than 700 delegates, 40 speakers and 50 exhibitors descend on Auckland’s Aotea Centre, this year’s conference in Dunedin is shaping up to be yet another energising event. 

Taking place from 25-28 July 2019, the Conference for General Practice is New Zealand’s only national conference presented by GPs, for GPs and their practice teams. It will bring together GPs and primary care professionals from across New Zealand for a three-day programme of clinical, practical and collegial sessions. 

We are delighted to have four high-profile keynote speakers on board for the 2019 conference:

• Dr Mobasher Butt, Chief Medical Officer of leading GP video consultation provider, Babylon. Dr Butt will be speaking on the use of technology to improve access to primary care.
• Gregory Phillips, Professor in the School of Medicine at Griffith University and CEO of ABSTARR Consulting. Professor Phillips will speak about equity in health.
• Dr Marie Bismark, medical practitioner and health law academic, who leads the Law and Public Health Group at the University of Melbourne. Dr Bismark will talk on quality in general practice. 
• Ian Taylor, founder of tech company, Animation Research Ltd, and awarded the 2019 New Zealand Innovator of the Year. Ian will speak about innovation

In addition to the keynote speakers, we are pleased to have the Right Honourable Dr David Clark (Minister of Health) presenting as well as Dr Ashley Bloomfield, Director-General of Health. More speakers will be announced over the coming months as the programme is confirmed. 

Alongside the clinical sessions and plenary addresses, delegates are also invited to a variety of social events including the welcome reception and the uplifting Fellowship and Awards Ceremony. 

GP19 is a fantastic opportunity to gather with colleagues and sector leaders to learn about developments in primary care, debate current challenges facing the sector, discuss ways to innovate healthcare delivery and improve outcomes, and ultimately celebrate the profession.
