Later this month we will be welcoming over 600 GPs and primary care professionals to the Aotea Centre in Auckland for our annual Conference for General Practice. With an action-packed programme as well as networking and social events, GP18 promises to deliver three days of fun, learning, inspiration and celebration. Here’s five reasons to be there!

1. Clinical Focus
The conference programme has been carefully selected by GPs and features a range of clinical sessions that will give you tools and tips that you can put into action when you're back in the practice on Monday.
From cardio care to cancer, from mental health to medicinal cannabis, the varied programme offers a wealth of clinical insights.
2. Inspiring keynote speakers
You’ll have the chance to hear from our exciting line-up of international keynote speakers, who come from an array of backgrounds.
Dr Camara Jones joins us from the Morehouse School of Medicine and will speak about equity; Brigadier Ben Kite from the UK Joint Force Intelligence Group will present on leadership with a general practice lens; and Professor Amanda Howe, President of WONCA, will share her global perspectives on primary healthcare.
3. CPD Points
The College conference provides a fantastic learning opportunity for all delegates and is an ideal way to gather CPD credits.
Credits are claimed one a one credit per hour basis by adding up the sessions attended. Across the three-day conference programme, there is the potential to earn a total of 15.48 credits.
More credits are available for attendance at the Quality Symposium and/or Learning and Education Workshop on Thursday 26 July.
4. Practical workshops
Fancy brushing up on your minor surgery skills? Or keen to learn about LARC insertions? Practical sessions will be held throughout the conference, giving you the chance to try your hand at procedures you’re likely to encounter in everyday practice.

5. Networking and collegiality
Worried that it’s all work and no play? Never fear – the Conference for General Practice is as much about collegiality as it is education.
You’ll have plenty of opportunities to catch up with your colleagues from around New Zealand, make new connections with like-minded professionals, and celebrate your peers gaining Fellowship and embarking on their general practice career.
