Decoding Sleep Reports and Navigating Treatment Pathways

27 May 2026 - 27 May 2027

Once a patient has been flagged as a candidate for sleep apnoea investigation, the next challenge is choosing the right diagnostic pathway and acting on the result. This webinar covers sleep study types and their clinical indications, Medicare rebate eligibility, and how to interpret reports in a general practice context. Dr David Cunnington also addresses management options, referral decision-making, and the GP's ongoing role once a diagnosis is confirmed.

Learning outcomes:

  1. Compare diagnostic sleep study options and determine their appropriate use based on patient complexity, clinical risk, and Medicare rebate eligibility criteria.
  2. Recognise key findings in sleep reports, with emphasis on pulse oximetry and oxygen desaturation patterns relevant to overall clinical risk
  3. Apply a structured, patient‑centred framework to post‑test consultations, integrating patient symptoms, partner concerns, and clinical health risk
  4. Describe the GP’s role in long‑term management of Sleep Disordered Breathing, including ongoing support to optimise therapy adherence.
