Quality framework assessments

From 1 April 2020, practices and PHOs will be able to book assessments directly with an assessor.

Assessment process

Practices complete a self-assessment of their performance against the indicators and criteria of the Foundation Standard or a Cornerstone module, the practice will then contact a College-endorsed assessor to check their performance. Read the full assessment process guide.

Become a College-endorsed assessor

The College trains and endorses Foundation Standard and Cornerstone module assessors. Becoming an assessor provides extensive opportunities for ongoing professional development, gaining unique insights into diverse contexts of general practice within New Zealand, as well as providing recognition of your expertise in the health sector. Find out more about becoming an assessor.

Assessments will still be required, but the College will no longer undertake or manage the assessment process. Instead, from 1 April 2020, when our two new quality programmes are launched, practices and PHOs will book their assessments directly with assessors, rather than coming through the College’s Quality team.

Practices will be assessed against the Foundation Standard and the modules to achieve accreditation. Practices will engage directly with assessors who will set their own fees.
