Workforce support from Hands Up

The Hands Up database is a workforce pipeline created by the Ministry of Health to support the COVID-19 workforce for both clinical and non-clinical roles such as vaccinators, administrators, and all support roles. As Omicron is affecting the health and disability sector, the Ministry is opening the database wider to Health Providers to support staff who are affected by COVID-19.

How will this help you
You will be able to use this database to help you fill your staffing shortages and recommend recruiting people and having your agreements in place in anticipation of additional staffing needs.
 
How do people register their interest to help?

Candidates register their interest on the Hands Up database.  This information loads into the Hands Up database for both clinical and non-clinical roles. 
 
How do I access 
If you need potential workforce due to the recent Omicron outbreak, please email handsup@health.govt.nz indicating what resources you are needing (see suggested list below). The Ministry team will conduct a search for you in the database and provide you with potential leads for you to then contact. Please note, this is only a pipeline for workforce. Your normal recruitment process including validating qualifications, police checks, and reference checks will still need to be completed if you choose to contact an candidate and proceed with employment. We will also require you to report back on the result of the recruitment, so we can update the Hands Up database accordingly.
