The Health Quality & Safety Commission (HQSC) have released a booklet (three steps to better health literacy - a guide for health professionals') to help health professionals communicate with patients and families. 

Section 3: Wheako whaiaro | Patient experience

Indicator 7.1: Participate in the Health Quality and Safety Commission’s (HQSC) Primary Care Patient Experience Survey (PES) to understand patients experience of care.

When feedback is received, triage the themes and determine if there are opportunities for quality improvement. Prioritise according to practice consensus.  Implementation timelines will depend on the priority.
Where there are no enrolled patients i.e. student health centres, alternative surveys need to be approved or endorsed.

Patient information system will be changes to practice information system

This indicator relates to PMS however also applies to hard copies of patient information.  Privacy policies and data management policies can be used as evidence.

Indicator 12: Patient records

MCNZ are leading a consultation on management of patient records.  This consultation may result in a change to this indicator.
