Approved training sites

Registrars can do their training in either Division of Rural Hospital Medicine (DRHM) accredited hospital/department or at a department/practice that has been accredited for training by another specialty college.

All training runs need to be completed at a Registrar or Senior House Officer level.

The compulsory six-month Emergency Medicine run needs to be at a registrar level. The compulsory rural GP run needs to be completed at a College approved rural general practice

Please see a list of DRHM accredited rural hospitals and other specialty runs.

Other approved training sites

All hospital departments accredited by a specialty college for training are recognised as approved training sites for the Rural Hospital Medicine Training Programme (RHMTP) in that specialty.

Departments that are not accredited by the specialty college but wish to be approved for RHMTP training may apply for accreditation by the Division. For further information, email drhmnz@rnzcgp.org.nz
