College's assessment guide

This is the guide our College-endorsed assessors will use to decide how practices have done with The Foundation Standard and Cornerstone Modules.

Self assessment

The practice team will self-assess their performance against the indicators and criteria of the Foundation Standard or Cornerstone module. The practice team will rate their performance on each criterion as one of the following:

  • Met
  • Partially met
  • Not met
  • Not applicable

Complete 'partially met' or 'not met' criteria

For those criteria marked as ‘partially met’ or ‘not met’, the practice must articulate their plans to meet the criteria. Plans should include reasonable timeframes for completion. The practice team will upload supporting evidence for each criterion. The evidence may include items such as photos, survey results, copies of policies and forms, etc. 

College endorsed assessor visit

Once the practice team has completed their self-assessment, their work will need to be evaluated by a College-endorsed assessor. The College provides an assessor directory, organised by quality programme and module. The practice will need to contact an appropriate assessor to begin the assessment process. The Foundation Standard requires a site visit, but some Cornerstone modules can be assessed entirely online.

Assessor recommends accreditation

Once an assessor has determined all criteria have been ‘met’, the assessor will recommend certification or accreditation to the College.
