Quality Programme Foundation Standard Exemptions

Practices may apply for an exemption which will be granted at the College’s discretion and for a specified period of time.

Exemptions are intended for requirements remaining outstanding at the time of Foundation Standard assessment which could cause a lengthy delay to certification.

Some examples may include a piece of equipment- such as an AED, CPR training or an approved fire evacuation scheme.

If the exemption is granted, the practice is to complete the outstanding requirement within the allocated timeframe, upload the evidence to smartsheet and notify the Quality Team at quality@rnzcgp.org.nz

To apply for exemption, complete this form and email it to the quality@rnzcgp.org.nz

Onsite Visit Exemption Request Form

As part of Foundation Standard certification an in-person practice visit continues to be a requirement. However, we recognise that the COVID-19 environment has required increased use of electronic resources in many areas of clinical practice.

If your practice is in an area that is affected by the current COVID-19 community outbreak or you are having difficulty completing the in-person assessor site visit requirement for another reason, the College recommends that in the first instance you speak to your PHO. An extension may be granted so that an in-person site visit can be completed when it is safe to do so.

If your practice feels the assessment needs to be completed urgently and needs to be done as a virtual site visit, please complete an exemption to site visit form here. The College will consider these requests on a case-by-case basis and will only be considering requests from practices.

Certification will not be awarded to practices based on virtual visits when they were not approved by the College prior to the virtual site taking place.
