CTE in Aotearoa: Understanding the impact of repeated head injury
Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) is an emerging and increasingly important concern in Aotearoa’s health landscape. Once associated mainly with professional athletes, we now understand that CTE can affect anyone exposed to repeated head impacts – from community-level sport, to military and police personnel exposed to blast injury, and victims of domestic violence.
This FREE webinar unpacks what we currently know about CTE, how it develops, the challenges of diagnosis, and the implications for long-term brain health.
This session will help clinicians recognise risk, support early intervention, and provide informed guidance to individuals, whanau, and sporting communities.
Presented by: Dr Helen Murray who is a senior research fellow at the University of Auckland Centre for Brain Research and leads the Brain Injury and Neurodegeneration research group where her research explores the biological mechanisms linking repetitive head impacts and neurodegeneration.
