Support and wellbeing

As specialist GPs, you will spend your lives caring for your communities so it's important you take care of your own health. This page provides information on:

Policies and regulations

The College’s academic policies support our decision-making and give us direction. The College’s policies are often supported by comprehensive procedures. View our policies and regulations.

Member wellbeing

The College has developed a member wellbeing hub which includes access to EAP and sign posts to other services for support.

Teaching and support

When you’re in GPEP, you’ll be guided and supported along the way by an expert team of Medical Educators, kaiako, advisors, and support staff at the College. Find out more.

Hauora Māori Clinical Fellow

Dr Jessica Keepa (Ngāti Porou) is the College's Hauora Māori Clinical Fellow. Jess provides clinical and pastoral support to Māori registrars in GPEP. Jess is based in the Wellington office three days a week. You can connect with Jess via email.

A group is welcomed at Te Ahunga 2021

Pou Whirinaki, Pacific

The Pou Whirinaki (Pacific) provides clinical and pastoral support to Pacific registrars in the GPEP. Currently, this is Dr L’Ondine Tukuitonga, an Auckland based specialist GP. You can connect with L’Ondine via email.

Whakatipu group

We recognise that language, immigration to another culture and working in a different health system can provide particular challenges, and we want to support you as much as possible. The Whakatipu group provides extra teaching and support for GPEP year 1 registrars who have English as a second language or who registered in New Zealand through the NZREX exam or an equivalent exam overseas.

The programme is designed to augment the teaching and learning you already do in the regional seminar days. If you would like more information please email Registrar Support or speak with your local medical educator as places are limited.
