Membership categories and fees

College members pay an annual membership fee.

Registrars (doctors completing their GPEP or Division of Rural Hospital Medicine training) also pay training fees for each year they are enrolled in training (invoiced separately).

The membership year runs from 1 April to 31 March. Please note that the fees noted below include GST and levies where appropriate (faculty levy ($80 or $40) and research and education levy $10) and are valid until 31 March 2026.

Fellows

A Fellow has been assessed under the College's Fellowship regulations and is vocationally registered in the scope of general practice or rural hospital medicine.

Fellows and Distinguished Fellows earning more than $60,000 per year (income from medical practice before tax)

$1,625.00

This fee includes the faculty and research levy.

Fellows and Distinguished Fellows earning less than $60,000 per year (income from medical practice before tax)

$969.00

This fee includes the faculty and research levy.

Recertification programme on hold for 4-12 months

$456.00

Registrar (Advanced)

Registrar (Advanced) is enrolled in the College’s GPEP programme and has successfully passed the College’s examinations.

Registrar (Advanced) working more than 5/10ths in any field

$1,625.00

This fee includes the faculty and research levy.

Registrar (Advanced) working 5/10ths or less in any field

$817.00

This fee includes the faculty and research levy.

Vocational training programme on hold for 4-12 months*

$456.00

*This must be agreed by the College prior to the hold taking place and cannot be backdated.

Registrar (GPEP1 and RHMTP)

A Registrar (GPEP1 and RHMTP) is enrolled in the GPEP but is yet to pass the College’s examinations and/or enrolled in the RHMTP.

Registrar (GPEP1 and RHMTP) working more than 5/10ths in any field

$1,625.00

This fee includes the faculty and research levy.

Registrar (GPEP1 and RHMTP) working 5/10ths or less in any field

$817.00

This fee includes the faculty and research levy.

Affiliate

An Affiliate is currently enrolled in the GPEP through the PST/VEAB pathway, OR enrolled in the RHMTP, OR a New Zealand registered doctor engaged in general practice, rural hospital medicine or other aligned scopes.

Affiliate working more than 5/10ths in any field

$1,625.00

This fee includes the faculty and research levy.

Affiliate working 5/10ths or less in any field

$817.00

This fee includes the faculty and research levy.

Retired and non-active

Permanently retired or doctors temporarily not working for 12 months or more OR practicing less than two weeks a year, e.g. parental leave, volunteer service abroad, sabbatical

Overseas

Doctors absent from New Zealand for 12 months or more. For Fellows: The College’s CPD programme can be placed on hold while overseas between three months and three years.

Division of Rural Hospital Medicine levy

Advanced Competency levy - cosmetic medicine
